The Sirma Mobile software company which is part of Sirma Group Holding announced a new mobile application enabling users to receive real time information about the location, distance and direction to the busstops in Sofia, as well as the traveling schedule of buses, trams and trolleybuses. The program is called "Sofspirka and is based on the emerging mobile platform Android. Sirma Mobile's team will soon create versions for other most popular mobile operating systems. The application uses GPS for determining the exact location of users and receives information from a Sirma Mobile's server about the location of stops and buses. "Sirma Mobile vision is to use fast emerging platforms for developing mobile applications in order to create services with a significant positive effect on the society. Therefore after we created the first Bulgarian mobile solution to improve communication in schools today we launch an application which informs citizens for the best traveling options with public transport in real-time” - stated Momchil Zarev, Head of Sirma Mobile. According to him "Sofspirka” is particularly relevant given the big traffic jams in the capital and the lack of updated information on bus arrivals, and because of the frequent changes in busstop locations and the routes of buses and trams in recent months. "As an European capital Sofia is now an international destination for tourism and conferences. Daily hundreds of people from all parts of Bulgaria and other countries arrive here and we have to put more efforts for their comfort and notification when using urban transport infrastructure. With Sofspirka we answer the need for easy to use application which can help even foreigners who step for the first time in our capital to intuitively find the nearest bus, trolleybus and tram stops and check for oncoming vehicles - said Anton Gavrailov, Sirma Mobile's manager.
