Smartphone vendors to sell 1 billion devices in 2015

The global smartphone market will reach 982 million devices in 2015, according to analitic company IDC. The number of smartphones shipped till the end of this year will increase with 55 percent, reaching 472 million devices, compared to 305 million units shipped in 2010.
With regard to mobile operation systems, Android will continue to increase its market share, reaching 38.9 percent till the end ot 2011 and 43.8 percent in 2015. Symbian's market share will drop to 20.6 percent this year, while iOS will operate on 18.2 percent of the smartphones shipped till the end of this year and 16.9 percent – in 2015. BlackBerry OS will report a negligible reduction of its market share with 14.2 percent in 2011 and 13.4 percent till the end of 2015. The research company is expecting strong growth of Microsoft's Windows Phone platform, reaching 20.3 in 2015.
